I am an attorney in Denver, Colorado. I graduated from the University of South Carolina, B.A., cum laude, in 1985. In 1988 I received my Juris Doctorate degree
from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Upon graduation from law school, I served as law clerk to a South Carolina state court judge, where I learned the vital importance of a
well drafted order.
I am licensed to practice law in the states of Colorado and South Carolina.
QDROs are complex legal documents. They require an understanding of federal law (ERISA) and state law as it relates to property division in divorce. QDROs also
require an understanding of various retirement plans- 401ks, pension plans, and federal, military, city and state retirement plans.
In addition to being a licensed attorney familiar with applicable state and federal retirement laws, I am also a Certified Financial Planner Certificant, and a
Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, and have worked with retirement plans from a practical financial standpoint. Some QDRO services have personnel with one of these qualifications- my
qualifications are unique in that I have experience in all of these areas, and therefore I am better qualified to apply the technical legal knowledge with the practical working knowledge
of retirement plan operations to prepare for you effective QDROs.
In addition to my licenses and certifications, I am a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the South Carolina Bar Association.
In 2007, was guest host on the "Business For Breakfast" radio show on AM1060 radio in Denver. In 2008, I hosted "The Lowdown on Wall Street," my own financial
planning and investment program.
